Anonymous said: Hi, I am 16 & I'm struggling with letting go of my ex boyfriend. Its been almost a year now & seeing him with other girls kills me. I don't know why its so hard to let go. He wasn't even that good to me. I seek God constantly but I'm still weak.
Hey, I’m sorry this is happening. My all-time favorite broadway musical contains this lyric:
If I had a string under my ribs
Knotted to you, connecting our frames
I’d be afraid that many a mile
Would sever the tie
And I would take to bleeding inwardly.
Anytime you’re romantic with somebody, even just in your heart or fantasies, you’re tying yourself to them. God designed it this way so that husbands and wives could become spiritually one as easily as possible.
It really is a miracle, but sometimes that can bring pain when relationships end. This is why dating for any reason other than finding a life-long spouse is a bad idea.
The good news is, there can be healing. The blood of Jesus has the power to break every chain and bind up every wound.
It’s going to take some intense seeking after Him. Jesus isn’t a vending machine. It’s a total life makeover. Spend hours in your Bible with a journal learning about God’s heart and plan for you. Pray about everything in life including what you’re learning from scripture.
Build your life on the solid rock of Jesus and not on your personal hopes for the future.
